6:47.3. it is the time spent by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS to lap the Nürburgring and sets the new record for a road-approved vehicle on it. Also known as the Green Hell, it is considered by many as one of the most technical race tracks around the world, and is the benchmark when it comes to demonstrate the capabilities of a sports car.
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS has set the bar really high. Indeed, Lars Kern and Nick Tandy, both race car drivers, crushed the previous lap time record in their first attempt. Moreover, they finished five other laps under the 6 minutes 50 seconds mark, which shows that the 911 GT2 RS is able to achieve record-breaking performance again and again.
Lars Kern was the one who set the final lap time with one of the two 911 GT2 RS available to complete the task. This 6:47.3 lap record makes the Porsche 911 GT2 RS the fastest of all Porsche 911s, but also the fastest production car ever made on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. It has beaten the previous record by five seconds, while being 10 seconds quicker than the Porsche 918 Spyder on this legendary circuit despite being less powerful (911 GT2 RS : 700 hp / 918 Spyder : 887 hp).
What an accomplishment!
